The bus has been severely upsetting me lately. Yesterday I was 15 minutes late to work again, because the bus decided to be full and passed me as I stared in helplessness. Today, I said, “I don’t need you!” to the first bus and walked to Brighton Center to catch my connecting bus. It was the best decision I’ve made in a while. I was warmed by walking, got a smidgen of exercise, and got to the office 30 minutes early! Look at me being the zealous, punctual worker bee. Now, I’m eating a toasted bagel with Strawberry-Rhubarb-Orange jam and looking at pictures like THIS online.
While walking to Brighton Center I saw a familiar face. A couple of weeks ago P and I were waiting on the 66 to Harvard Square when this older guy in a newsboy cap stumbled off the 57. He was alternately mumbling to himself and shouting at this other rando guy in a suit coat. He sat next to me on the bench and tried to strike up a chat. Needless to say, he failed and took a long swig out of his whiskey bottle. It was 11 am on a Sunday. He proceeded to try and fight the suit coat man, who kept saying,”I don’t want any trouble,” for no apparent reason. Anticlimax: so, I saw this joker while walking to the bus stop today and deliberately averted my eyes and walked faster. Once again, I was brutally confronted with how small this Town is.
